Nikki Wins Miss HU!

Nikole Churchill has been my best friend for around 10 years. She has been my rock since the day I met her. She was the student nurse who assisted the doctors during my labor with Tristan. She is Tristan's godmother and my Maid of Honor! Congratulations to her for all her hard work and display of confidence, poise, and beauty inside and certainly out!

Miss HU soon to be miss america

H1N1 Vaccination for Infants

As a mother, more importantly as a student mother, I worry about the health and safety of my child all the time. Not only because I do not want my child to become sick but because the little things mean time away from school for me. The debate over the new H1N1 Swine Flu vaccination is one that has also been troubling me. On one hand I would feel so guilty if my child were to get sick and die in the extreme case, or mildly if he was hospitalized. So does that mean I should vaccinate my child with a recently discovered drug, not widely tested and recently new? I feel as a mother I could not live with the guilt knowing I could have done something if my child did get the flu, so as a mother I decided that Tristan would be recieving the vaccination when made available. It is up to every parent to decide what is best for their child. I found these sights helpful and informational in my search as well as talking to your childs doctor.

P90x

As a young mother, I definitely still worry about how my body looks. Finding time to workout between school, work, and watching a baby is difficult. But I recently got hooked onto p90x. This revolutionary system matches a meal-plan with a workout plan to fit the needs of everyone. I have lost 5 lbs and 1 1/2 inches in a week. Here is the link to the website in case you want to check it out. It's 90 days of hard work, but only to get a hard body!

In Need of a Babysitter!

One thing is always for certain in the Navy: nothing is for certain! Of course Jason has been called to deploy to some school once again when I need him most to finish school. I had worked out a deal with a friend who would help me with Tristan and I would watch another girl for her while she went to school so that she had a job in the evenings... but of course that fell through and I'm left pretty screwed. So now I am in the process of looking for someone to watch Tristan at night when I'm in school and Jason isn't home or has to work late. The problem then becomes us not wanting him in daycare (which isn't open at night anyways) and not trusting other people. My mom just recently moved to Hawaii so that leaves me with no family to watch him either. Jason is finally realizing as well how hard going to school and raising a baby are since he's having to watch Tristan at night. After arguing with me to go back to school and about finding a job, he has come to the realization that things were much easier when I was just staying home with Tristan and my only responsibility was to the both of them. I've missed a few classes already because we just have no childcare. Tristan is the best baby in the world, i'm truly blessed, and it makes me sick I'm putting him through this. I want to get a degree but my heart is with my baby. So now I'm stuck trying to find a trustworthy babysitter in time for classes next week so i can just get through the semester.
